PectaSol-C® is an exclusive form of modified citrus pectin.
PectaSol-C® modified citrus pectin is a complex polysaccharide (a type of carbohydrate) obtained from the skin and flesh of citrus fruits.
Normal citrus peptide molecules are composed of highly branched glucose molecules, too large and complex for the gastrointestinal tract to absorb. PectaSol® modified citrus pectin has undergone an exclusive manufacturing process that shortens pectin molecules and reduces their ramifications compared to normal citrus pectins. This special process guarantees a minimum degree of methylation with a molecular weight in a specific range of 10,000 and 20,000 daltons. Low methylation increases the number of galactosyl binding sites. The unbranded chains of the modified citrus pectin, shorter and without ramifications, optimize their absorption.
PectaSol-C® modified citrus pectin is rich in galactosyl residues.
Pectins contribute to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels when consumed at 6 g per day. Consumption of pectins with a meal helps to reduce the blood glucose rise after that meal. This beneficial effect is obtained by consuming 10 g of pectins as part of the meal.
